“Abandoned Dreams” is a group of 20 mixed media paintings depicting shipwrecks sunken in the sky. As the title suggests, these motifs can be understood as metaphors for abandoned dreams.
The paintings were created by combining a wide range of different media. Every image started as a thought, transferred into a rudimentary digital sketch, which then, in the form of a giclée print, got attached to an individually, somewhere between A5 and A4 sized piece of 1 cm thick cardboard. This formed the composition-determining foundation for the painting process. What followed was an interplay of applying and partly removing again numerous paint layers, until the pictures reached the right colouration, texture, structure, amount of detail and degree of diffuseness. Finally, every painting received a robust, transparent, satin matt coating and a mounting system, ensuring they are ready to be hung on a wall, frameless, in either a free arrangement or ideally in my suggested composition.
